We would love for your child or student to become
one of our journalists. In our 27 years of operation, we have trained
literally thousands of young people in the fun and unique process
of CPL journalism.
The philosophy of CPL is to allow kids to take on as much responsibility
as they feel comfortable with. In this regard, our program is entirely
youth-directed; adults are not present during story sessions and all
decisions come from the members of Children's PressLine.
Once a Reporter (8-13) or an Editor (14-18) are trained as CPL members,
they are put on a mailing list so that they receive a monthly story
calendar, which lists all the stories and events for the coming month.
To work on a story, a Reporter or Editor just calls in and signs up
for the particular session, filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Most stories consist of two dates: a briefing date and a story date,
usually a few days apart. In the summer briefings and stories usually
happen on the same day.
Teachers, we can arrange a one-hour recruitment
session for you class. Just let us know! |
